Special Requests to make your Flight Enjoyable and Safe

Special requests need handling prior to arriving at the airport. Whether the request is for a wheelchair, special meals, special snacks or other special requests, the time to request services is at the time of reservation. Following up prior to departure to insure plans are in order for your travel needs. Call the airlines directly even if you use a travel agent just to confirm that the special request is in order. If by chance, you request a special meal or snack, when entering the plane explain your name and seat number to the flight attendant to ensure you receive the meal. Talking with the airlines right away to discuss special requests and then following up at least two days prior to departure time helps the planning of your request.

Ensure Your Special Request is recorded and ready

If you have a special request for a wheelchair, need oxygen or help with boarding and departure. Airlines provide special requests to provide every person the ability to travel on an airplane. If you need a wheelchair onboard, it will have to be a manual wheelchair, battery-operated wheelchairs cannot come in the passenger compartment due to hazards that can arise from the battery. If you require oxygen, this needs special attention from the airlines prior to booking a reservation to make sure they can accommodate the need you have. Specials request such as this mat need special seating arrangements and the airlines needs to plan seating arrangements.

Special Request that Meet your Diet Requirements

Airlines offer special requests for meals for any type of reason. If you have allergies to foods, lactose intolerable or on a special diet contacting the airlines prior to departure and setting up a special meal plan ensures your peace of mind. Short flights may not require such a service as they may only provide snacks, and you could supply that yourself. Longer flight, which last through meal times, would require this special request of food choices. If you travel with children during a mealtime, you will need to make a special request; airlines usually do not plan for travel of children on flights as far as food concerns. This special request does cost some additional money, but you receive what you want while traveling the airlines.
